Does PR really matter in SEO ?

PR = Page Rank, Points one page has on a ten point scale. But actual thing is pretty much complicated.
SEO = Search Engine Optimization, Technique used to improved search engine rankings.

With everyone trying to achieve good PR, i am not even concerned about it.

Is PR actaully that important to get some decent amount of traffic from search engines ?

I guess : NO

All you need to get some good amount of traffic from search engines is unique content.

In order to get traffic, website should be concentrated on one topic. It should provide users a great experience. Links to related sites with great original content should be provided.

Don't worry about decrease in PR cos u added links to other sites, it will rather bring you more organic traffic.

I have experienced it myself.

I added links to related sites with good content, and after a week i went from 70 unique visitors per day to 120 visitors per day.

Just pick your niche and provide all information related to it.

Selecting a Good Domain Name

How a site rank in search engines depends a lot on the domain name. Selecting a good domain name is very much important in the world of SEO.
Lets say your site is about funny jokes, it would make sense to name it funnyjokes.com, but if the domain name is not available try for funnyjokes.net or funnyjokes.org

Don't stick to just .com domain name.

Choosing a domain name like myname.com makes no sense to me unless the site is related to the person's life.

Order of keywords should also be considered, funnyjokes.com and jokesfunny.com will not rank same for the keyword "funny jokes" assuming both sites are same in other aspects.

Now time for the controversy.
Its a SEO myth that if there are hyphens in domain name, the website does not rank well in serps.
Domain name with lot of hyphens appear spammy.

For eg www.this-domain-name-appear-spammy.com

My suggestion would be to avoid using hyphens in domain name.

How to get traffic to your blog ?

First of all target a keyword or a keyword phrase before doing anything.

Use overture tool, make sure the keyword or keyword phrase is popular enough.

Then search for that keyword phrase on MSN and Google.

Target any field for which number of competetors is as less as possible like 100,000 and it is searched for atleast 10,000 per month

Then select a good domain name.

Give it a good relavent title and good description

Submit to MSN and Google

Get the blog 10-20 backlinks from sites with relaventcontent and appropriate anchot text, not same though.

If u do this properly, u will surely get atleast 100-500 visitors per day within 1-2 months.

Caution : Don't use Copied content.

　　克里斯托弗·鲍里尼(Christopher Paolini)是个八零后，出生于1983年的他，从未上过一天学，父母就是他的老师。他的叛逆期，是在图书馆度过的，虽然没有接受过朝九晚五的正规教育，却给了他更多自由的时间扩大阅读兴趣，而他最喜欢的，就是与龙有关的奇幻故事……他的家乡有一座海拔非常高的“熊齿山”，地形陡削，山顶常年被雪覆盖，就像一片充满幻想的世外桃源。十来岁的年纪，其他的男孩都应该和小同伴在田间疯跑，可是鲍里尼却开始着手一些短篇故事和诗歌的创作，对于他来说，这个世界上最美妙的事情就是将自己的想法用文字完美地表达出来。15岁的时候，他开始着手第一本小说《龙骑士》的创作，并初步将其定性为“遗产三部曲”。

　　15岁的年纪，人生才刚刚开始，生活的历练和文化的修养还停留在一个比较初级的阶段，但非常规的成长环境反而屏蔽了时下年轻人身上常带的傲气和痞气，保留住了那片充满幻想与童真的伊甸园，随波逐流易，返璞归真难。我们可以说《龙骑士》结合了时下多个最为流行的魔幻巨作的元素，《指环王》、《哈利·波特》、《纳尼亚年代记》……“拿来主义”要多明显就有多明显，可是人有时候追求的，不就是在一个架空的世界里过虚幻的生活吗？

　　作古的情怀

　　克里斯托弗·鲍里尼在构架之初，并没有预料到《龙骑士》会成就一个如此声势浩大的史诗故事，是啊，也许我们不该总拿作者的年纪说事，可是与J·R·R·托尔金和J·K·罗琳这样在经历了人世间所有悲苦与隐忍之后才有所成就的名作家，鲍里尼还是太稚嫩了一点，然而由他所创作的《龙骑士》，已经取得了和《指环王》、《哈利·波特》并驾齐驱的地位。鲍里尼曾经用了三年的时间，不停地修改和重新编辑这个故事，然而没有发行商会对他这种小孩子的胡言乱语、天马行空感兴趣，于是，他的父母选择自己出钱完成儿子的心愿。至于后来《龙骑士》变成了另一种流行文化，被魔幻题材的粉丝所追捧，则是两年后的事情了。

　　精灵、矮人、飞龙、战马……这些曾经充满奇幻色彩的名字，在经历了好莱坞的商业荼毒之后，开始变得铜臭味十足，但是我们仍然会不由自主地为其所吸引，这就是魔幻作品的魅力。不要觉得这是给小孩子扮家家酒用的，当你有意识地拒绝它时，那只是一种主观意识的强迫症在作祟。《龙骑士》的骨架建立在古挪威的神话基础之上，也有着它独特而厚重的历史背景：高贵的精灵族群穿越海洋来到这片土地上，遇到了已经在这里生存了几千年的飞龙族。目空一切的精灵将飞龙当成世俗一样的普通生物，矛盾爆发于一名年轻的精灵射杀了一只飞龙，引发了龙族疯狂的报复，它们杀死了那个年轻的精灵，战争从此在这片本来平和土地上打响了，整整五年的时间里，天地都被鲜血染成了红色。

　　直到后来，一位名叫伊拉贡的年轻精灵--和影片里的主人公同名，捡到了一个龙蛋，孵化之后，他们成了最好的朋友，然后分别在两个族群中游说，最终阻止了这场毫无意义的战斗，为了确保这种惨剧不再发生，“龙骑士”制度才应运而生--所谓“龙骑士”，其实就是骑着龙的精灵，所以他们拥有不朽的生命，除非用利刃和毒药才能摧毁他们的肉体，每一位“龙骑士”的力量，相当于10个凡人的力量的总合，同时，他们还知道最高的魔法的运用，由于生就比别的种族要高贵，所以“龙骑士”更加懂得世界万物不分贵贱，他们守护着整片土地的生灵，包括人类，其他不是“龙骑士”的精灵则隐居在密林深处，过着与世无争、闲云散鹤的生活。

　　“三部曲”不是形式，是规格

　　没有规矩不成方圆，虽然“三部曲”已经成了媚俗的始作俑者，但在这里，更像是一个美好的愿望。少年得志的克里斯托弗·鲍里尼早已不是那个需要自己在书店门口推销作品的小男孩了，自从《龙骑士》大放异彩，他的“遗传三部曲”的构想早已幻化成书商眼中的印钞机、粉丝心中的企盼。“遗传三部曲”之二《长老》(Eldest)已经于去年出版发行，这一集中，伊拉贡和阿娅来到了精灵的故乡，在那里，他遇到了自己的第二位导师……

　　这个故事会不会在第三本小说出版的时候终结，现在下结论似乎还为时过早，但20世纪福克斯已经买下了“遗传三部曲”的全部电影改编版权，所以不管会不会结束，伊拉贡至少要骑着他的飞龙在大银幕上飞三次。至于三集伊拉贡的扮演者，都将是那个从18万候选人中脱颖而出的幸运儿爱德华·斯皮里尔斯(Edward Speleers)。

　　一提到魔幻题材，就难以避免地与《指环王》的比较，很遗憾地告诉你，你可能不会从《龙骑士》中看到多大的改变，而影片中也将出现一个数码角色--蓝色的飞龙。将工业光魔和维塔工作室所创造的智慧相结合，可能会成为第一次做导演的斯蒂芬·方米尔(Stefen Fangmeier)最明智的选择，尤达大师与咕噜姆相遇……我们甚至能够想象到作为龙族最后一员的飞龙，将会拥有比人类还要细致的表情和聪明的大脑。对于这种类型的影片，特效至此，别无他求。

如何优化Blog来提高流量
越来越多的人们开始建立自己的Blog，不管在哪里，Blog已经成为了网络上的一个热点。有些Blog是建立在Blog托管商（BSP）那里，有些是自己有自己的域名和空间，甚至服务器。
对于Blog的优化，Zac认为Blog优化有很大的局限，我倒是不是这样认为，下面谈谈对于优化Blog的方法。
1）内容为王Blog的内容要令人感兴趣，至少自己会感兴趣，如果写得东西，自己都不会去看第二遍，那么别人会有兴趣吗？每个页面要专注于一个主题，不要太分散。Blog的更新要频繁，而且要有规律，那样，你的访客会常常来看看是否有新的文章，而搜索引擎的蜘蛛，也会常常来抓取新的内容。对于常常更新的Blog，Google会在它的搜索结果中显示日期。
2）基于页面的优化这种优化是指针对搜索引擎来的。*Blog的网址最好包含你的关键词。*在网页标题里放置主要的关键词。*把次要关键词放在文章正文里。*链接文字也是用关键词为好。这些优化方法，也是Zac认为不容易优化的地方，其实只要对于Blog的模版稍加研究和定制，就可以做到以上四点，其实不难。当然，也许有些Blog平台的定制功能很弱，那么就有可能无法实现。从我使用的结果来看，以本Blog为例，用MovableType这个平台就是相当的容易。相信Zac也是因为对于Blog程序不熟悉而造成的误解，在此，我要说明，Zac的文章，我是常常关注的，虽然未必同意他的观点，但很多有参考价值。

With or Without Yao

"Am I doing better or worse since you left me? With or without you, what's difference?" a fair question to ask for those who lost their loved ones. Confucius said you can tell how important the one is to you only when you are without the one.
Without Yao, the Huston Rockets seem to be doing pretty well, actually, better in records. With Yao in the lineup, the Rockets are 16:11; without him, it is 14:6. The winning percentage is 59% to 70%.
These figures can naturally lead to the conclusion that Yao is not important to the team, but it's easy to find that's not exactly the case after breaking down these games.

Offense
The Rockets' five starters are Rafer Alston, Tracy McGrady, Shane Battier, Juwan Howard, and Dikembe Mutombo since Yao Ming broke a bone in his right leg on Dec. 23 last year. Up to Feb. 3, the five were on the court 21 times altogether for 298 minutes, scored 609, and allowed 529, winning by a margin of 80 points.
They were up for 14 times, and outscored for seven times. The efficiency of 66.6% is quite impressive, but not quite as much when Yao is on the court.
At the beginning of the season, the Rockets' starters were Rafer Alston, Tracy McGrady, Shane Battier, Chuck Hayes, and Yao Ming. They were on the court 14 times for 193 minutes, scored 412, and allowed 303, winning by a margin of 109 points. They were ahead for 12 times, and beaten by the opponents for two times. Their efficiency is 85.7%. The rockets are at best when Both Yao and T-mac on the court.
Defense
The Rockets' five without Yao allowed shooting percentage of 45.7%, but grabbed 9% more rebounds than their opponents. But the Rockets' five with Yao gave their rival a much harder time to find their range, allowing only 39.8% shooting percentage. Meanwhile, they also grabbed 8% rebounds.
Leave no doubt about how much is still left in Mutumbo's tank, the statistics show that he is still one the most efficient rebounders in the league, but Yao is still better overall defensive player.
T-Mac Factor
In the two Rockets teams with and without Yao, the biggest difference and difference-maker may not be Yao, but Tracy McGrady. He has definitely revived from the slump at the beginning of the season, and found his groove again after Yao was out. He topped 30 points for the 11th time on a win in a 105:77 rout over the Timberwolves on February 5.
With veterans Juwan Howard and Dikembe Mutombo taking care of their jobs and providing some valuable experience and morale, the rest of the team have also stepped up when Yao was out. There is more chemistry in the Rockets after the players meshing in with each other for more than three months.
The Rockets are a better team, and better teams win more games. With Yao expecting to come back in March, this team has a chance to elevate from good to great.
For the record, Confucius never said you can tell how important the one is to you only when you are without the one. You can tell how much he can make you better when you are with him, rather than how much worse you feel when you are without him.

有专家称这起非同一般的攻击事件仅持续了几个小时就感染了大量无防备的电脑用户，全世界的电脑专家正忙于应付有渗透入网络致命通道危险的大量数据。专家认为黑客在有意识地隐藏身份，但是大量的资料数据指向了韩国。

此次攻击对象为运营以“org”及一些其他后缀结尾的网址服务器的UltraDNS公司，该公司并未立即公开对此做出回应。

Hackers briefly overwhelmed at least three of the 13 computers that help manage global computer traffic Tuesday in one of the most significant attacks against the Internet since 2002.
Experts said the unusually powerful attacks lasted as long as 12 hours but passed largely unnoticed by most computer users, a testament to the resiliency of the Internet. Behind the scenes, computer scientists worldwide raced to cope with enormous volumes of data that threatened to saturate some of the Internet's most vital pipelines.
The motive for the attacks was unclear, said Duane Wessels, a researcher at the Cooperative Association for Internet Data Analysis at the San Diego Supercomputing Center. "Maybe to show off or just be disruptive; it doesn't seem to be extortion or anything like that," Wessels said.
Other experts said the hackers appeared to disguise their origin, but vast amounts of rogue data in the attacks were traced to South Korea.
The attacks appeared to target UltraDNS, the company that operates servers managing traffic for Web sites ending in "org" and some other suffixes, experts said. Officials with NeuStar Inc., which owns UltraDNS, confirmed only that it had observed an unusual increase in traffic.
Among the targeted "root" servers that manage global Internet traffic were ones operated by the Defense Department and the Internet's primary oversight body.
"There was what appears to be some form of attack during the night hours here in California and into the morning," said John Crain, chief technical officer for the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. He said the attack was continuing and so was the hunt for its origin.
"I don't think anybody has the full picture," Crain said. "We're looking at the data."
Crain said Tuesday's attack was less serious than attacks against the same 13 "root" servers in October 2002 because technology innovations in recent years have increasingly distributed their workloads to other computers around the globe.
